On the way to Belize, we will stop at the amazing site of Yax Ha. Yax Ha was occupied during the Maya, pre-classic time period, dating back to the times of the Book of Mormon. It is one of the 3 largest Maya sites in all Guatemala. The site was popularized by the tv series “Survivor” a few years ago when it was the site of that program. Following our visit to the site, we will have lunch and head for the Belize border. After crossing the border, we will have about a 2 hour drive to our hotel in Belize City. (B,L,D)

Aug 5 (Thursday)
After a buffest breakfast, we will head to the resort of Jaguar Paw, a beautiful reserve. For those who would live to view the jungle from a zip line, that will be an option in the morning. After lunch, we will be able to cool down and relax as we float through the underground rivers on tubes. These rivers were sacred places to the ancient Maya and entrances to their underworld. We’ll then take our bus into Belize City to the Best Western hotel. (B,L,D)

After snorkeling, we will go back to the island for a lunch and free time on the beach, shopping, etc. In the afternoon, we will head back to our hotel. (B,L,D)

Aug 7 (Saturday) - Today we’ll take an exciting speed-boat ride down the New River. This magnificent day features ruins (that date back to the pre-classic Maya period), wildlife and fauna. Look for howler monkeys, climb ruins, or relax by a Maya ballcourt.
